Harrogate Railway are to reform their reserve side next season to provide a stream of players for Billy Miller’s first team squad.

Railway have announced a partnership with the International Academy of Football Education, set up by former Leeds United hero Brian Deane.

The Station View outfit chopped its reserve squad at the end of last season due to financial worries and reserve team boss Mark Forster took several players with him to his new side Wetherby Athletic.

At the time, boss MIller said he was not concerned the omission but now, the gaffer believes a reformed team would provide greater strength for his squad.

However, he was unsure which reserve league the team would ply their trade in next season.

The Station View outfit have already benefited from the services of several members of the IAFE academy.

Peter Crook, Alex Metcalfe and March signings Adam Baker and Malachi Farquharson are all part of the Leeds-based academy.

Miller added: “We have established a link with the academy and their players will come in and boost the squad.

“It will give us another pool of players to add to the growing pool we have.”

Meanwhile, Ramsbottom United were promoted from Evo-Stik Northern League First Division One through the play-offs, leaving Darlington 1883 in the league.

More than 1,000 spectators watch Railway play Darlington at Station View in January, Railway’s highest attendance of the season.
