Title holders Kirk Deighton Rangers earned their first win of the Harrogate and District Premier campaign with a single-goal win over Beckwithshaw Saints.
Olly Aspey scored the goal that separated the sides, in his first match since returning from travelling around the world.
“We played really well to say we had to wait 10 days after the Clifford loss,” said Marshall. “It was a result we deserved. We bossed it and kept goin guntil the end.”
Aspey may be dropped into the reserves this week to gain match fitness, with seven players returning from astag do.
Marshall has more than 20 players in his reckoning for a starting place, and he believes that will be key in his side’s bid to retain their championship.
“You are always going to need that,” he said. “It was a big part of our success last year and it will be again.”
