Harrogate Town grabbed maximum points from their New Year’s Day trip to Workington, the win lifting them to 12th in Blue Square North.
Lee Elam opened their account seven minutes into the first half and took their lead into the break, before Workington levelled matters ten minutes after the restart.
With five minutes left on the clock, new on-loan striker from Bradford City Adam Baker popped up to smash home the winner.
It was a much-needed win for Town, whose Boxing Day game at home to Workington and Saturday’s hosting of Droylsden were both postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
They travel to Altrincham this Saturday, before Tuesday’s journey to Boston United.
Meantime Harrogate Railway secured a point on New Year’s Day, drawing 2-2 at home to AFC Farsley.
Rob Youhill shot Railway ahead in the sixth minute before Nathan Cartman made it 2-0 to the hosts on the 22nd minute.
Unfortunately Farlsey clawed their way back with two goals to claim a share of the spoils.
Railway were felled 1-0 by Goole on Boxing Day. They host Garforth this Saturday in their next Evo-Stik First Division North contest.
Knaresborough Town were 1-0 winners over Dinnington on Saturday, Steve Bromley netting the only goal in the NCEL Division One encounter.
Tadcaster Albion saw Saturday’s NCEL Premier clash at home to Glasshoughton postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. They beat Hall Road Rangers 3-0 on Boxing Day.
Their home against Bridlington this Saturday is already in doubt, after the River Wharfe burst its banks and once again flooded the pitch.
