Harrogate Cosmos lifted the Claro League Intermediate Cup after surging back from a two-goal deficit to beat Markington 3-2 at Boroughbridge’s Aldborough Road ground.
Markington raced into a two-goal headstart thanks to goals from Ryan Butcher-Dracup and Lewis Mallinson either side of half-time.
However, Cosmos got back in the game after Matty Vincent hit home from the penalty spot. Ben Murphy then restored parity with an easy tap in from a swift counter attack on 74 minutes.
With extra time looming the tensions began to rise,
Markington re-asserted themselves as they rattled the bar from the edge of the box.
But. having come so close to winning the game they failed to re-focus, and in the 88th minute Luke Vincent found himself with the time and space to hit home the goal that handed Cosmos the cup.
