Boroughbridge AFC are set for a bumper pre-season after confirming a four match warm-up schedule.
The big name visitors to Aldborough Road this summer will be a representative squad from League One side Carlisle United, who will make the trip down the M6 with a side of youngsters on the evening of Tuesday August 6 for a 6.15 pm kick-off.
The Cumbrians will be led south by a new boss after the recent departure of long-term youth gaffer Eric Kinder.
It has also been announced that the game will be sponsored by the Carlisle United Supporters’ Club London Branch, who are highly active in bringing together supporters from in and around the capital.
‘Bridge are also looking forward to an exciting trio of games against Northern Counties East League teams.
The first game will take place on Saturday July 20 when Pontefract Collieries visit Aldborough Road. ‘Bridge then travel to Manse Lane to take on former West Yorkshire League local rivals Knaresborough Town for the Sadie Rose Clifford Charity Cup on Tuesday July 30, 7.30pm kick-off.
The schedule continues with a game against Northern Counties East Premier Division outfit Glasshoughton Welfare on Thursday August 1 as final preparations are made both to welcome Carlisle and for the coming season.
‘Bridge boss Ekin is looking forward to pre-season, saying that “the Carlisle game is going to be fantastic for the Club, and Pontefract, Glasshoughton, and the Knaresborough game in memory of Sadie Rose Clifford are all big friendlies for us as well”. Pre-season training gets underway at Aldborough Road in the coming weeks, with the first game on the pre-season schedule now under a month away.
