Bardsey will have one hand on the West Yorkshire Premier title should they beat Leeds City this Saturday, according to boss Lee Barraclough.

Rob Dickinson and Danny Maw (2) were on target as Bardsey thrashed Shelley 3-0 away on Saturday.

The Keswick Laners head to their main title rivals 13 points clear after City suffered a surprise 2-2 draw at bottom club Kippax on Saturday.

Third-placed Beeston St Anthony’s also slipped up in their title pursuit, losing 1-0 at Oxenhope Recreation.

City and Beeston both have three matches in hand.

But, with just six matches remaining, the gaffer said victory on Saturday would guarantee the league title returns to the club’s trophy cabinet.

Barraclough said: “To be where we are now, the players have dug in and I am really proud. But they have to finish the job.

“If we can win on Saturday, it’s one hand on the trophy.

“But the main thing is to go there and not get beaten.”

Meanwhile, Wetherby Athletic returned to the bottom of the table after losing 3-1 against Ripon City on the Ings.

Jed Vale scored a consolation but Rick Houlton saw red for a late tackle.

Athletic remain eight points from safety with four games in hand on 14th-placed Whitkirk Wanderers.
