Event 8 of the Fulford Cycles Time Trial League was the 25 mile TT between Walshford and Dishforth.

The event was dominated yet again by Boneshaker’s Steve Smales who posted another course record with 54:45.

The battle for league runner up is a lot closer with Nova’s Duncan Mullier having the upper hand over team-mate Paul Lamb with 58:03 and 58:17 respectively.

National 60-65 champion Tony Kent came home in fourth with 59:18.

Nova riders were competing for the Thew Cup on handicap and it was won by Tim Jarvis with 1:04:13 in tenth, a handicap time of 56:13.

Tim eschews the fashion for carbon aero bikes and pointed helmets and instead rides a retro steel steed which would have been the TT norm in the 1980s. The open scene saw some success for local riders.

Smales was first equal in high winds on the A19 in the Hartlepool CC 10 mile TT with a time of 21:48 along with Adept Precision’s Shaun Tyson.

Gaining his first open TT podium was Duncan Mullier in third with 22:34.

In less windy conditions Nova’s Joanne Ketteringham won the ladies 15 mile event in the YCF points series. For more information and full results log on to www.harrogatenova.com
