Yorkshire Road Club’s Ian Fairweather and Mike Shacklock and Harrogate Nova’s Ian Peacock were blessed with a bright day at the National 12-hour TT championships in East Yorkshire on Sunday.
This is an ultra-endurance event where the goal is to ride as far as possible in 12 hours, round a 40 and then 15-mile circuit.
Fairweather rode perfectly to break YRC’s long standing record with a magnificent 275 miles to earn sixth place. Shacklock recorded 238 miles in 20th and Peacock 213 in 40th.
The event was won by Pedal Revolution’s Nik Bowdler with 301 miles.
Event 13 of the Fulford Cycles TT League was two laps and 15 rolling miles around Boroughbridge and Aldborough.
It was business as usual as crowned champion Steve Smales of Boneshakers broke the course record with 31:35 ahead of Nova’s Duncan Mullier 33:18 and Dave Morris 33:45.
Boneshakers’ junior Edwyn Oliver-Evans, added another record with 33:49 in fourth.
