The dust had only just settled from the Tour de Yorkshire which sped through Nidderdale on April 29 when Ilkley Cycling Club staged their fourth annual race in the  area at the weekend.

Based at Darley Memorial Hall, the two-day, four stage race featured 25 teams of three riders from cycling clubs from all across the

country.

The first day started with an individual time-trial, followed by a 55 mile race involving circuits of Penny Pot

Lane, Norwood and Beckwithshaw.

Day Two started with a Team Time Trial from Greenhow to Forest Moor, followed by the gruelling ‘mountain’ stage of five laps from Darley through Dacre, Thornthwaite and Forest Moor.

The overall race winner was Julian Varley of Team KTM.

Tim Gill, event organiser at Ilkley Cycling Club said: “The event is very popular, and Darley is the ideal place for the race.

“We welcomed riders from all across the country.”
