Victory for ’Gate in Bob Mellor Cup final

The Bob Mellor Cup finals day was held at a scorching hot Knaresborough Forest on July 7.

The first semi saw Knaresborough U-15s take on Harrogate. BHarrogate lost two early wickets, but 37 not out for Rob Tinker, and 35 not out for Harry Warren helped them to a total of 150-6. Ben Cutts took 3-31 runs.

In reply Knaresborough were undone by some tight bowling by Peter Clark (4-8).

Harry Warren and Rob Tinker both took three wickets each, as Knaresborough closed on 53.

In the second semi final, Ouseburn posted 144-9, with Dan Lawson 35 not out, and Kieran Horner 39 not out. In reply Tom Whittaker scored 35 not out for Beckwithshaw, but they ran out of overs and finished on 97-8.

In the final, excellent fielding from Ouseburn kept the runs down in the early overs, but Harrogate scored 156-5 runs through Louis Foxton (36) and Harry Warren (38). J Amsden took three wickets.

In reply Ouseburn were bowled out for 43, with Peter Clark claiming another four wickets.

His fellow opener Harry Forster took 4-4 runs, which together with his 19 not out won him the Arrowselfdrive.com Man of the Match award.
