Ripon CC captain Tom Leeming hopes his side can drag themselves back to winning ways after falling short on Saturday.
Ripon lost for the second week running in York Senior League Division Three as they failed to better hosts Pockilington’s 229-8.
Chris Needham thrashed a quick 66 off 38 balls in the chase but Leeming’s seventh-placed side were bowled out 21 runs shy.
The Studley Roaders travel to second placed Duncombe Park this Saturday.
Ripon were without two frontline bowlers for the visit to Pocklington as John Gains (away) and Chris Hazzard (injured) missed the clash.
That left Leeming with only four bowlers at his disposal but the skipper still chose to bowl first at the toss.
And, despite the skipper taking 3-31 and Matthew Morton adding 2-31, Ripon struggled to maintain the home batsmen.
Elliot Oates scored 47 to partner Needham in the chase but wickets continued to tumble.
Leeming said: “I thought it was quite a good score as at one point I thought they could get 250/260 which would have been mammoth.
“It is a learning process. We haven’t been taking our chances.
“We dropped their best batsman (Andy Ings who scored 81) who used to play for Driffield in the Yorkshire League on 15.
“That was a massive drop. If we could have got into them early on we would have had a better chance.”
Leeming admitted the lack of squad depth was harming the club’s chances of moving up the league and he called on his players to bounce back ahead of the trip to
The skipper said: “They are doing well. They have a very good batsman in Brian Leckemby who is scoring a lot of runs this year.
“Hopefully we can get him early on and then see what happens.
“We need to get a win. We have fallen off he wagon a bit in the last few games. But it’s a long season and we will get there. It’ll be a close league.
“We are just struggling to field 11 good players. I am having to pick two people each week just to field..
“I want to put my best team out but I am always battling availability.
“Strength in depth is not what we have at the moment. When we field a good team we are strong.”
