Celebrations went long into the evening as unbeaten Studley Royal wrapped up their first ever Harrogate Evening League championship last Wednesday.
Royal had the easiest of victories against already relegated Harrogate to finish the season four points ahead of the field.
Overseas player Justin Perkins was the hero of the hour as he had too much class with the ball for Harrogate.
Perkins took four wickets as Royal restricted the bottom side to just 98-9 in the 16 overs that were possible.
The opening pair of first team captain Rob Nicholson (35) and Anthony Mackle (43no) then ensured the rest of the squad could rest easy with a 60-run partnership. Perkins (11) and Rob Mackle (4no) were required but victory was never in doubt as Harrogate used eight of their bowlers.
Chairman Ken Coad said: “We were unbeaten all season in the league which was a great achievement, and we were delighted to win the Division One title for the first time in the Club history.
“Several young players played throughout the season, along with established first team players, which was a good way of ‘blooding’ them for the future.”
