Anyone going to the Headingley Test match this week keep a look out for Harrogate’s Alex Lilley.
The left-arm pace bowler has been selected as one of four Yorkshire players who will act as England’s 12th men for their must-win second test match against South Africa, which started yesterday in Leeds.
It means Lilley will miss Harrogate’s Yorkshire League trip to Yorkshire Academy on Saturday.
St George’s Road skipper Ryan Bradshaw hopes the former St Aidan’s School pupil makes an impression if he gets some time on the pitch.
“He’s got the whole backing from the club,” he said.
“We knew when we signed him at the start of the season he could miss some games with Yorkshire.”
Meanwhile, ‘Gate seamer Sam Davies has been bowling at the England squad in the nets this week.
“Apparantly he’s got Jonathan Trott out twice,” added Bradshaw.
