World Cup winner Glenn Maxwell served up a treat for cricket fans with this expert catch in an exhibition match against Bardsey.

Maxwell represented Yorkshire in a T20 charity friendly against the Aire-Wharfe outfit on Monday evening, making 27 runs as the County Champions won a nail-biting contest by three runs.

Fun and games were had throughout the evening as more than 400 spectators turned out at Bardsey’s Keswick Lane ground to watch the match played in aid of charity Elliot’s Footprint.

Harrogate’s Jonny Tattersall hit a half-century as the Yorkshire XI defended 184-7, despite Bardsey’s Ed Clayton scoring a fifty of his own.

With four runs required off the last ball, Henry Wainman, who has just returned from representing the England Deaf Squad in Holland, was caught at long on.

Bardsey captain Matt Wells said: “It was really good of Yorkshire to come down. With it being for charity, we all made a show of it.

“It was a massive surprise when we saw the teamsheet to see that the best T20 player in the world was coming down to play at Bardsey.

“We didn’t know what to expect with Glenn Maxwell and Rich Pyrah playing. But to stand against it and put a game on was something really special.

“Even though it was Yorkshire playing, you could tell everyone was cheering Bardsey on.

“With 300 or 400 people down, we must have raised a good bit of money for the charity, which is great.”
