A destructive all-round show from Ed Day blasted Tadcaster Magnet to a 24-point home winning draw against Welton on Saturday.

Day flashed 84 from 58 balls with the bat as Magnet posted an imposing 261-8 from their 45 overs.

Rory Coe (30), Paul Clark (30) and Jon Hill (36) also made runs as Hill and Day shared an important fifth wicket century stand.

Day then grabbed two wickets in a three over spell to dent Welton’s chase as the away side fell 20 runs short.

Paul Downey also impressed with the ball as he took 3-41.

Magnet climbed to fifth in York Senior League Division Two.

Bottom-side Thorp Arch and Boston Spa struggled to defend the boundaries as they were crushed by nine-wickets at Hull II.

Matthew Bentley (60), Andew Griffiths (32) and stand-in skipper Zach Wheatley (31) started the innings well as TABS reached the 150 mark losing only two wickets. But they lost seven wickets for 16 runs as they collapsed to 182-9.

Hull strolled to success thanks to half centuries from Tom Jennings (87no) and Martin Watkin (83).
