The Academy’s tennis coach David Brown has had a great start to the year having just won the prestigious Scottish Indoor Veteran’s doubles tournament in the age category over 55s.

Having won the same tournament last year in a younger age group and with a different partner, this year’s result maintained David’s world doubles ranking at 25 as compiled by the International Tennis Federation.

“I’ve had a serious injury with my shoulder since August last year which has restricted my training and practise over the winter months so this win is particularly pleasing,” David said.

“Having reached the semi-finals of the British Indoor doubles championships in January the Scottish win maintains a strong momentum over the start of the year.”

There is a couple of months to go till the next key local tournament which is the Yorkshire Open Veterans Championships held in Doncaster in April.
