HARROGATE Amateur Boxing Club staged a showcase at the Harrogate Pavilions on Thursday night.
The evening was held to drum up support for the club, based on The Avenue in Starbeck, and to give fighters a bout to show off their skills to a large audience of around 500 people.
There were ten bouts, and the age range of the fighters started from 11 years old all the way up to mid-twenties.
Boxing club coach John Lewis was delighted with the response from Harrogate boxing fans.
“A few weeks before we weren’t sure it was going to go ahead but then we sold out of tickets and people turned up on the night hoping to get in,” he said.
“It’s great to see and people who came down really enjoyed it.
“We weren’t sure if Harrogate was a boxing town but it turned out to be very enthusiastic.
“We’re hoping to hold another when the ABA approve another date.”
The club has four coaches, is open Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays 7.30-8.30pm.
