Letter; Rubbish - Countryside treated badly

I live in a lovely part of the Harrogate area.

One morning I walked half a mile up the road and am disgusted by the amount of rubbish deposited on the verge and road side. Costa Coffee beakers, Red Bull cans, gin and tonic cans - so much for drink driving.

I could have filled two sacks with it although I couldn’t get the two dining chairs in. Let alone garden prunings.

What if I went and dumped my rubbish in their garden?

The other day someone had used the gate way on the side of the road as a toilet and thrown the tissue in the field where my sheep and hens could get at it. Never mind the dog and me. It took me a while to decide how to remove it.

I have a 52 year old son, this will give you an idea of how old I am. Why should I have to move someone’s ...... so I can get through the gate?

So in the end I blasted it with boiling water onto the side of the road and swept it away. So when the tractors etc come up it would disappear.

Someone also goes into one of my fields and does it there where we walk with our dogs. Do you think this is acceptable?

We all get taken short but really I feel as if us country folk are treated like a sewer.
