North Yorkshire’s resurrection of their proposed weekend parking charges, once again raises the question of just what these disconnected people and their computers are trying to do to Harrogate.
Though supposedly strapped for cash, they continue to garnish our footpaths and verges with ferrous litter, in order to justify questionable traffic regulation and what they term ‘public safety.’
Their most ill-advised and perverse piece de résistance must be the wanton replacement of potentially elegant Victorian street lamps by ubiquitous scaffolding poles, topped with abandoned boats. We are paying for all this, not only in monetary terms, but by Harrogate’s needlessly starting to look much the same as many other towns.
The more NYCC say and do, the more urgent becomes the need to free ourselves from their shackles, before they wreak yet more damage.
