HARROGATE’S own Yorkshire Gold tea has taken on a starring role in a hit new US drama set to air in England later this year.
Homeland, a TV series created by American TV studio Showtime and starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis as CIA operative Carrie Mathison and US Marine Sergeantt and ex prisoner of war, Nicholas Brody featured the iconic Yorkshire brew in a prominent role in a new episode.
When Sgt Brody reappears after eight years missing in Iraq, during which he was presumed to have been killed, he’s reunited with his wife and two children.
During a tender scene, Brody’s wife Jessica (played by Morena Baccarin) brings him a cup of tea, which she says is his “favourite, Yorkshire Gold”.
Ian Brabbin, tea buyer at Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate said: “We were both surprised and delighted to discover that Yorkshire Gold has been given such a starring role in Homeland and are looking forward to seeing the show when it arrives on our screens here later in the year.
“We are no strangers to the small screen - Yorkshire Tea has also made a cameo appearance on Friends, not to mention our ever growing band of celebrity fans such as Noel Gallagher and Alan Carr.
“We hope this latest on screen appearance will help us to put even more boxes of Yorkshire’s finest on kitchen countertops from North Yorkshire to New York.”
Homeland is set to air on Channel 4 in February.
