The DeLorean time machine made famous in the 80s blockbuster sci-fi adventure film Back to the Future visited Castle Howard to launch a movie theme for its blockbuster firework display Kaboom.

Hitching a lift in the DeLorean were Guy Fawkes, a Star Wars Stormtrooper and a fire-glow juggler, who will all play a part in Kaboom, on October 31.

The time-machine and its unusual passengers surprised visitors to Castle Howard as organisers welcomed them to the grounds as part of preparations for the event. The main feature of the blockbuster event, which celebrates the best of Hallowe’en and bonfire night, is an explosive firework spectacular synchronized to a stirring medley of Bond theme tunes.

The show-stopping display heralds the return of super spy James Bond to UK cinemas in the new film Spectre.

Outdoor cinema screenings also include an exclusive showing of the 80s sci-fi comic adventure film Back to the Future, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and also Toy Story.

Kaboom, Yorkshire’s biggest explosive and action-packed pyrotechnic display takes inspiration from the special effects, sounds and big stunts that are synonymous with a trip to the movies. Kaboom at Castle Howard will also feature a programme of family entertainment including Chills and Thrills activities such as spooky storytelling and pumpkin carving as well as fire-glow jugglers, a traditional vintage funfair and a steam organ.

Tickets are £13.75 for adults and £10 children, under 16s, students and senior citizens. A limited offer £30 family ticket includes 2 adults and 2 children. Tickets from www.kaboomyork.com or www.castlehoward.co.uk

Free parking will be provided at the event. Dedicated transport from York city centre and from Malton to Castle Howard will also be available.
