Harvest Supper and Auction: Whixley’s celebration of this year’s bountiful harvest starts with the harvest supper in the village hall on Friday, October 4, 7 for 7.30pm. There will be a two course hot supper, £7.50 per head, followed by an auction of donated goods. There will be an abundance of home-grown produce and home-baking to bid for. St. Francis’ Day Service: Parish Praise at Whixley, 10.30am on Sunday, October 6 will be a celebration of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. Bring your pets along to this celebration of the special role they have in many people’s lives.
Harvest Festival: a traditional harvest festival service, giving thanks for the food we eat and for those who grow it, will be held at 6.30pm on Sunday, October 6 at the Church of the Ascension. Come and join in the familiar harvest hymns and readings and enjoy a faith supper afterwards. Harvest offerings will be given to St Aiden’s in Leeds where homeless and displaced persons are given a hot meal. Tinned and dry goods such as pasta and rice will be most welcome.
