The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning for snow across the district today and tomorrow (Friday January 25 and Saturday January 26).
Between 4 and 8cm of snow has been forecast for the district with warnings that between 10 to 20cm may fall in some upland areas.
Strong winds will also lead to drifting and blizzard-like conditions, particularly in higher areas and drivers are advised to take care on the roads.
Snow is expected to ease off in the early hours of Saturday morning.
By Sunday a second weather warning is in place for heavy rain throughout the day.
The Met Office have warned that heavy rain combined with snow melt could lead to localised surface water and river flooding.
