A hardy band of 23 cyclists set out from Ripley Castle bound for Edinburgh this week.
The Ride to the North cyclists are raising money for children’s charity Barnardo’s.
Organiser Julie Patmore said: “We all assembled at Ripley Castle for an early start.
“The riders raised over £10,700 before we even started, so we are delighted.
“They were apprehensive before we set off, but that is only to be expected.
“We will have a great time. It is a fantastic route past great scenery.”
