Ramsgill Domino Drive: will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 1 at Ramsgill Village Hall, to which everyone is very welcome.

Markington & District Billiards/Snooker: results for the billiards matches played on Wednesday, November 7: Darley 3 - Lofthouse 2; Hampsthwaite B 3 - Middlesmoor 2. No snooker match played as it was a free week for the Middlesmoor team.

Friends of Middlesmoor Playground: inform everyone that the winning number of the third £50 board was number 55 (won by the Walker family) and express their thanks to everyone who supported it.

Christmas Coffee Morning: will take place this Saturday and Sunday, November 24/25 from 10am-2.30pm at Ramsgill Village Hall. The event is to raise money for Ramsgill church and village hall, as well as giving the chance to indulge in some early Christmas shopping. Home-made cakes, chutneys, plants, gift wrappings, ribbons and Christmas cakes will all be on sale and you can be assured of a warm welcome from organisers Catherine Lamb and Sarah Smith, who will appreciate your support.

Lofthouse Xmas School Fair: will take place on Saturday, December 1 from 10am-noon and gives a further opportunity for some good quality shopping. A donation on entry to the fair will give a free drink/cake which can then be enjoyed whilst listening to nativity songs from the schoolchildren. In addition, various stalls will offer shopping in the form of Christmas wreaths, Phoenix cards/wrap, Ann Snelson’s locally made cards, home-made Christmas cake, jewellery by Stella & Dot and Janet Thomas, skin care products, children’s crafts made at school, soft furnishings, hand-made wooden items, tombola, raffle, cake stall and tuck shop.

AS Coaches: have organised another seasonal shopping trip to Boundary Mills, Colne on Saturday, December 1. The coach will leave Middlesmoor at 9am and Pateley Bridge around 9.30am, so if you are interested in going, please give Amanda Burton a call on 01423 711252 or email asburton711252@aol.com.

Nidderdale Young Farmers: press secretary, Emma Johnson, informs us of forthcoming meetings: Saturday, November 24 - Tombola at Pateley Bridge Auction Mart’s Christmas Fat Stock sale; Wednesday, November 28 - Sheep Kenning; Wednesday, December 5 - Caroline’s Christmas Crafts at Prince’s farm,Toft Gate; Wednesday, December 12 - Darts & Dominoes night at the Half Moon, Fellbeck.

Cinema in the Dale: publicity officer, Julie O’Brien, informs us that the next film showing at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall, will be at 7.30pm on Friday, November 30 (bar and refreshments available). The film is Salmon Fishing in the Yemen (certificate 12A), starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt and is a romantic story about a visionary sheik who has a big dream to bring salmon fishing to the desert. His unlikely team embark upon an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible. Tickets are now available from Pateley Bridge Pharmacy at a cost of £5.

Lofthouse Domino Drive: will take place on Saturday, December 8 at 7.30pm. Brian Binns informs us that admission remains at £2 for adults and £1 for children and that there will be the usual festive buffet and raffle. Prize donations would be most welcome.

Stir Up Sunday: will take place at 10.30am on Sunday, November 25 at How Stean Cafe. In addition to a pleasant service, the get together gives all the community, including the children, the chance to take a turn in stirring up the ingredients for the delicious Christmas cake which will be shared out at the Nativity/Carol service at St Chad’s, Middlesmoor on Sunday, December 23 at 6.30pm.
