Children at Bishop Monkton School were treated to a visit from Santa.
Saint Nicholas dropped into the school’s Christmas Fayre at Bishop Monkton Village Hall.
Introduced by the other special guest Mayor of Harrogate Les Ellington, Santa gave out gifts and heard children’s Christmas lists.
There were carols playing and guests were able to tuck into turkey sandwiches, mince pies and mulled wine. The fayre had an array of stalls selling clothes, crafts, face painting, jewellery, Christmas wreaths, cakes and cosmetics.
Coun Ellington welcomed shoppers and said he was very pleasantly surprised by the extensive facilities offered at the village hall. He also thanked the hosts, Friends of Bishop Monkton School.
The event raised £1,015 which will go towards the school’s much needed all weather playground improvements.
“We would very much like to thank all of those who supported this event especially those who baked, roasted, donated prizes or helped on the day,” said FoBMS chairwoman Charlotte Spencer.
