PLANS to improve transport in Harrogate town centre will be presented by a county council steering group in the summer.

The authority has around £1.4m to spend on schemes to ease congestion, but saw its proposals to semi-pedestrianise Station Parade and re-route traffic along East Parade strongly opposed by residents.

A steering group was set up to consider what to do next. Last week a spokesman said it was “still considering all the options coming forward from engagement with local business, developers and members of the wider community” and would make recommendations in the summer.
