A woman has been charged with dangerous driving after a car crashed into a bus and a police car in Harrogate.

Police say the crash, shortly before midnight on Saturday, October 25, happened on Knaresborough Road near the junction with Newnham Street.

The bus was carrying a number of passengers at the time, say police, and the bus driver, a 53-year-old Harrogate man, was treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses. Police say the crash involved a blue Peugeot 106 and a black and red Harrogate and District bus, travelling in opposite directions.

Shortly before, say investigating officers, the Peugeot had been in a crash with a stationary police car on Globe Street, before leaving the scene in the direction of Knaresborough Road.

A 35-year-old woman from Harrogate was taken to Harrogate District Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

She has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving, failing to report an accident, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance and an MOT offence.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, selecting option 2 and asking TC Andrew Morton.
