Harrogate man John Grundy will run ten marathons in ten days around Lake Windermere next month, a distance of over 260 miles, to raise cash for Brathay Trust.
And dog Millie is in line to help him smash his £3,000 target, as money raised at the Harrogate Dog Show, co-organised by John’s partner Kim Metcalfe, is being donated to his chosen charity.
John will hope Millie is more effective in helping him raise cash than lowering his time, as the young pup isn’t quite fast enough to keep up with her owner on a run.
John is running the marathon route ten days in a row from May 10, with the final day the official Windermere marathon.
He said: “I will be running the same marathon every day, and training by doing marathons in Worcester, Blackpool and Sunderland.
“The Brathay Trust helps disadvantaged children in the UK , it is for people who have been in care, or abused or lacking confidence.
“I am looking to raise £3,000, and am a good chunk of the way there.”
Sheffield Wednesday fan John has secured a signed shirt to auction at the end of the season, and is taking on a charity bike ride to help boost funds.
He added: “I will reach the target, and smashing it would be great!”
