Still time to take steps to sign up for Gorge Walk

Organisers of this year’s Nidd Gorge charity walk say there is still time to register and raise valuable funds for Martin House Children’s Hospice.

This year walkers are also encouraged to raise money for their own charities by getting personal sponsorship.

Walk entry fees for the Knaresborough Rotary Club event will go towards raising money for Martin House and are adults £7 and those aged six-16, £3. Walks start at any time between 9am and noon on Sunday, October 16 from the Rotary Wishing Well near High Bridge on Knaresborough Waterside.

However walkers are encouraged to register in advance online at www.niddgorgewalk.co.uk where full details of the walks are available.

Parking is available at Conyngham Hall pay and display car park or the number one bus stops nearby at Mother Shipton’s cave.

Two walks are available - six and 11 miles - along the Nidd Gorge, which is home to five woods, more than 80 species of birds, 30 different mammals and reptiles and amphibians.

Martin House Children’s Hospice, based at Boston Spa, serves North, East and West Yorkshire and needs to raise £5.5 million per year to continue its work. It will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Its aim is to provide family led care for children with life shortening conditions.
