Parish Council: at the recent meeting the chairman welcomed new councillor Kevin Atkinson who had been co-opted to fill the parish councillor vacancy.

The following topics were discussed: drainage and sewage problems had recently occurred and were still ongoing in the Moor End Farm and Station House area of the village. Yorkshire Water representatives were in attendance and they agreed to sort out the existing problem as a matter of urgency but when questioned by the chairman they were unable to give assurances on when work would be carried out on necessary long term improvements to the village drainage system. The parish council decided to take legal advice and and possibly commision a technical report to ensure the necessary work is carried out and is not subject to Yorkshire Water delays or procedures.

By a majority vote it was decided to give permission to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to erect a sign in the village giving directions to the nature reserve and their car park.

A letter had been received by tenants of the bungalows on Main Street advising them that Harrogate Borough Council wished to remove the age restriction for tenancies which could mean families being moved into a bungalow which became vacant. The parish council unanimously disagreed with this proposal and the chairman would write to HBC strongly opposing this suggestion.
