Staveley

Church News: this Sunday, May 5 is Rogation Sunday when services will move round the Benefice, ending at Staveley village green at approximately 10am followed by coffee at Staveley Church, all are welcome.

Missing plaque: there was concern in the village about the disappearance of a plaque from the churchyard in memory of Mr and Mrs Horner. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of the missing plaque please contact church warden Ken Barker on 01423 340293.

Reading group: the next meeting will be at Ruth’s house at 7pm on Wednesday, May 8 when the book to be discussed is A Tale of Two Cities.

Village Hall: tickets are now available for Lights Out Land Girls on May 16 from Pam on 01423 340505.

Parish Council: a circular has recently been delivered to all homes in Staveley highlighting burglaries and anti-social behaviour which have taken place in the village. Police are fully aware of these activities and the parish council is particularly asking for active support from parents to prevent petty vandalism.

These topics and others including access to the nature reserve will be open for discussion at the next parish council meeting which is also the AGM and will be at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 9. The chairman of Harrogate and district Neighbourhood Watch will attend this meeting to talk to residents about cold calling and how Neighbourhood Watch can help to prevent criminal activities such as burglaries.
