The annual Knaresborough Duck Race went ahead despite awful weather conditions on New Year’s Day.
Due to the weather, the number of spectators on the day was far less than usual, which resulted in correspondingly lower sales, with about a third of the ducks going unsold.
As a result of lower sales, the first 15 ducks were pulled out, as organisers felt that this was a very fair way of deciding the winners. The numbers of the winning ducks are 376, 311, 1117, 3461, 1112, 1168, 2669, 839, 270, 3804, 793, 230, 1737, 224, 2470.
The event was organised by
Knaresborough Cricket Club in aid of the club and Henshaws.
Lisa Sherratt, a fundraiser at Henshaws, said: “In spite of the rain, the Duck Race was a wonderful event and the atmosphere was great. The crowd cheered on the ducks and gave generously to Henshaws’ collection on the day.”
She added: “Henshaws are very grateful to Knaresborough Cricket Club for picking us as their joint charity and we really appreciate their support.”
