Scotton goes to the Races: on Wednesday, June 5, 28 smartly dressed villagers boarded the coach to an evening race meeting at Ripon. It was a beautiful evening to be at the aptly named Garden Racecourse to sample a bottle of cold white wine or a pint of Theakstons. Of course it’s only the bookies who win, although the two Helens (Robson and Watkinson), both came home £25 in profit. It was rumoured that one of the party’s system was to bet on horses with blue colours whereas Helen’s tactic was to bet only on horses stabled at Middleham or Leyburn (where she hails from) and it seemed to have paid off. Everyone had a marvellous evening - many thanks to Graham for organising the trip and we look forward to the next one.
Church Services: Sunday, June 23, 4th after Trinity, 9.30am Eucharist at St Thomas and 10am at the Methodist Church.
