Two former Harrogate diving club members will go head-to-head tonight in the Rio Olympic Games as Ripon's Jack Laugher goes in for another gold.

Ripon's Olympic gold medalist, Jack Laugher and Harrogate's Oliver Dingley, representing the Republic of Ireland, will compete against each other tonight (Aug 15) in the men's 3m springboard.

Back in 2010 the boys were both members of the same team at Harrogate District diving club, trained by Damian Ball, then the head coach and diving development manager at the Hydro in Harrogate.

Now, Damian is out in Rio coaching Oliver as both boys go in for the gold medal.

Supporting their golden boy, Ripon Rugby Club are opening their doors to everyone who wants to watch Jack in the diving semi-finals on Tuesday (Aug 16) from 1.30pm in quest of another gold.

The next stage of the competition sees the semi-finals at 2pm ahead of the final later at 10pm.

Refreshments will be available as well as the chance to purchase burgers and hotdogs from 4 until 8pm and an ice-cream van on hand to keep the kids happy.
