A North Yorkshire school is celebrating record-breaking results at A-Level.

Queen Ethelburga’s College near Boroughbridge has repeated its 100% overall pass rate for its Year 13 pupils but has seen its average UCAS points score per student increase so considerably it could become one of the top 50 schools in the country.

In the College, Year 13 students averaged at 490 UCAS points – the equivalent to 4 A Grades at A-Level, with the percentage of students gaining Grades A* to B at 93%.

The school’s Faculty, which caters for a wider range of aspirations, with A levels and BTECs in academic, vocational and creative subjects, saw a similarly impressive 100% pass rate and students there achieved average UCAS points of 459. 90% of BTEC courses taken were awarded a distinction grade (the equivalent to an A Grade at A-Level in UCAS points).

“This year’s results are our best ever,” he added, “and they are good cause for us to celebrate. We will be waiting eagerly for the league tables to be published in the media shortly, as we anticipate an even higher rating for our school, not just across the North of England, but across the entire country!”

Out of the 143 Year 13 students at the two schools at Queen Ethelburga’s, 102 have received offers from some of the country’s most prestigious universities, belonging to the Russell/1994 Groups and City Universities.
