If Yorkshire was competing in the London 2012 Olympics, it would be 10th in the medal table.

Jessica Ennis, the Brownlee brothers, cyclist Ed Clancy and Lizzie Armitstead are among the county’s 10 gold medalists – and we’re not finished yet.

So is it about time we shook off the shackles of the rest of the country and spoke to the IOC about going it alone?
