A NEW Tesco superstore will be built in Harrogate after planners approved an application this afternoon (Tuesday).
The planning committee voted 10 to 3 in favour of the proposal, with one abstention, following a heated debate in the chamber.
The company has offered a series of improvements around the town as part of the plan, and has been told to protect the future of the Jennyfield District Centre for at least five years.
The decision means Harrogate loses its label as the only mainland postcode in the UK without a Tesco superstore.
