Key positions within Harrogate Borough Council have been announced.
Cabinet members were confirmed at the council’s annual meeting last week which saw the majority of portfolios retained by previous holders.
However two notable changes have been made with Coun Zoe Metcalfe taking on responsibility for environment, waste reduction and recycling.
Coun Michael Harrison’s successful county council election campaign saw him secure a position on the North Yorkshire County Council executive, and he has now relinquished his position as deputy leader of Harrogate Council.
Cabinet Member for Resources, Enterprise and Economic Development, Coun Graham Swift, was confirmed as the new deputy leader, as well as retaining his original portfolio.
Coun Swift said: “First of all the council is in good shape, the cabinet is strong and Coun Harrison has been a strong force on taking decisions to fruition.
“The fact he has moved on to brighter and greater things has given me a chance and I am thrilled as his boots are big to fill and my responsibilities will be fuller.
“In addition to my previous portfolio I have picked up added responsibilities, this includes resource planning which is a lot to do with the development of areas including IT and finance.”
