A PUBLIC consultation will be held this week over plans to build a new Marks and Spencer food shop in Harrogate.
The retail giant said the new Simply Food store in Leeds Road will “complement” its existing town centre shop, as well as other businesses in the area.
It is also expected to create around 50 new jobs if it goes ahead and a planning application is due to be submitted by the end of the year.
The site is currently occupied by Nidd Vale Motors, which is planning to move to a new purpose-built facility at St James’s Business Park in Knaresborough.
The public consultation takes place at Nidd Vale on Friday, October 21 between 10am and 7pm and Saturday, October 22 from 10am to 1pm. It is open to anyone - including individuals and businesses - who wants to comment on the plans and organisers have vowed to take people’s views into consideration before submitting the planning application.
