Following a successful year for the Harrogate Operatic Players, members presented the funds raised from both their shows, the Sound of Music and Serenade, to three chosen charities.

Held at Citizen’s Advice Bureau’s (CAB) new headquarters at Burton House in Harrogate, the players chairwoman Helen Mills presented cheques of £1,000.

They went to Jill Quinn from Dementia Forward, Carol Barber from the CAB and Mary Chapman of Nuzzlets.

Mary took along a Himilayan mountain rabbit, already enormous and still growing.

Helen Mills said: “The Harrogate Operatic Players are very proud to be able to present such a substantial amount of money to these chosen charities and be able to give back to the communities who have supported us with our shows.

“As a society, we hope to continue to produce high quality shows for our members and supporters and be able to raise funds for worthwhile local causes.”

The players are beginning rehearsals for Serenade which is performed each year at the Sun Pavilion in November.
