Platform Open - Harrogate's leading art prize launches tonight

It starts with Kier Hall and his Jazz Band and inbetween has a schools day, an art installation movie and a whole lot more, the second annual Platform Open exhibition is set to put some swing into Harrogate when it opens tomorrow, Friday.

This innovative showcase of emerging and established artists from across the UK has its preview tonight, then runs for there days in the lovely and atmopsheric setting of the Victorian hall of Morphets Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers.

Raising funds for the children’s charity NSPCC from the commission on all artworks bought by visitors to the exhibition, Platform Open prides itself on the breadth and quality of the artists who make submissions each year.

Organiser Heidi Donohoe said: “There so many highlights this year. We’re very pleased to be showing the prints and film work of Everton Wright but it’s just as important to encourage young people to appreciate good art which is why we have the schools day.”

Platform Open is free and open daily at Morphets, Albert Street, Harrogate from 10am-5pm Friday/Saturday, 11am-4pm Sunday.
