Pateley Bridge's heroic bid to be crowned the best high street in the UK is still right on course.

Having impressed the high-flying judges of the Great British High Street competition on their visit, the good news from the online voting by the public is that the Dales town remains in front of its two main rivals in the UK final.

But the local driving force of the competition bid, Nidderdale Chamber of Trade, says it is no time to be complacent because everyone can still vote once a day for the next fortnight.

For anyone who may who not have easy access to online facilities, Spar shop is to make a laptop available for anyone who would like to vote.

And the chamber’s Keith Tordoff will be touring the town centre in a car tomorrow, Saturday with a loud speaker to get the message across.

It’s essential the town keeps up its brilliant efforts for, as well as the need to impress the judges, 50 per cent of the final decision will be based on a daily public vote which runs online until November 18.
