Julie’s Jumble Sale: at Grassington Town Hall in aid of Cancer Research on Saturday, October 5 was a resounding success. The hall was packed and £3,868 was raised. Julie would like to thank everyone who supported the event, either by attending or by donating jumble.

Dance Extravaganza: Nidderdale High are holding a 1940s Dance Extravaganza on Saturday, November 9, 8-11pm. Featuring music from the 20s, 30s and 40s, dancers are encouraged to wear 1940s fancy dress, and there will be a prize for the best costume. Ace teachers Major Swing & Kitty will be on hand to not only help you through the elements of the dance but also provide a lot of fun as well. There is also a buffet supper, period vintage cocktails, and nostalgic photography from Moon Booth. The evening is a fund raiser for the school minibus, and tickets, £10, are available from the school on 01423 711246.

Fellbeck Luncheon Club: next meeting is on Monday, November 4 at the Half Moon Inn noon for 12 30pm. New members are very welcome. Please ring 711749 for further details.

Glasshouses WI: we were pleased to welcome Trevor Kent to our last meeting with his informative and often hilarious talk entitled I just called to read your meter. We heard about some of the sticky situations he found himself in and about some of the more serious issues he had to deal with as a meter reader. Our next meeting is open to everyone, male and female so ladies give your men an outing. We are holding a Call My Bluff wine tasting evening at Glasshouses School. Wine tasting with a twist. It will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday, November 13. Cheese and nibbles included. Cost £5. Pay at the door.

Pateley Bridge Ladies Club: will next meet on Monday, October 28 for a talk by Matthew Hick on Hospital Ship up the Amazon. Meetings are held at the Pateley Club at 7.45pm. New members and visitors are always welcome. For more info contact Pam on 711679.

Free Arts & Crafts Taster Session for Kids: on Saturday, November 2, 10am-noon with local artists Fran Salisbury, Jane Carlisle Bellerby and Michelle Pilkington at The Scout Hut, Riverside Hall, Pateley Bridge.

10th Christmas brass concert: at Pateley Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 7 at 7.30pm. This year it will be given by Tewit Youth Band for hall funds and sponsored as usual by Barclays plc. Tickets £7.50 to include mulled wine and mince pies from Pateley Phamacy or Mabel Parker 71268) or on the door. There will be a raffle.

Last Chance for Laughs: this weekend is your last opportunity to see the latest comedy at The Playhouse – if you can get tickets. Grounds for Divorce opened on Tuesday night and runs until this Saturday, with performances at 7.30pm nightly and a matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm. 0781 696 1854.
