Concert: the 9th Christmas brass concert held at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall on Saturday, December 8 raised a magnificent sum of £1,663 for hall funds. This year it was given by Alverton Brass who practise in Brompton, near Northallerton but draw players from all over Yorkshire. One of their players, Carl Mitchell, lives near Darley. The concert was a breath of fresh air with a different twist on the usual Christmas music. Three well known carols were played for audience participation but with very different arrangements to what we expect. While Shepherds was sung to Ilkla’ Moor Baht’at - a lovely change to the usual tune.
The committee would like to thank Sam of Pateley Pharmacy who did such a splendid job being the main ticket seller, Sue Marshall who baked 200 of the most delicious mince pies and all who helped in any way to make this such a successful evening. Diary date for next year: Saturday, December 7 all being well. We have a free concert coming up on Sunday, April 14 at 3pm this time by Reeth Band. It is free but no one will be let out until they give a donation on their way out. Proceeds will be split between the band and the hall.
Gardening Club: the next meeting of the Glasshouses and District Gardening Club will take place tonight, Thursday, December 20 in Dacre and Hartwith Village Hall. Eddie Harland will be the speaking about Developing the Garden at Littlethorpe Manor. He is the head gardener there. The meeting will begin at 7.45pm and there will be some seasonal mince pies with a cup of tea or coffee after the meeting.
