Remembrance Sunday, November 11: in Pateley Bridge Armistice Day has always been commemorated on the eleventh day of the eleventh month. This year this happens to fall on a Sunday and as always the Nidderdale branch of the Royal British Legion invites everyone, both locals and visitors, to the war memorial in the park on this day. The service will be led by ministers from the Church in the Dale.
Civic representatives from North Yorkshire County Council, Harrogate Borough Council, Pateley Bridge Town Council and Bewerley Parish Council together with local organisations will be laying wreaths. Wreaths will also be laid by service representatives from RAF Menwith Hill and the Royal British Legion and other old comrades from their units and formations. You hve joined with us in ever increasing numbers over the past years and the legion is very grateful for your continued support and commitment in helping our servicemen and women both serving and retired but still in need. This need continues to be tremendous, and week by week we see and hear the tragic news of more deaths and injuries and the wonderful work being done by so many organisations to support the injured both in mind and body. We thank you for your help in supporting those who are giving their very all to ensure we remain living free from terror and strife.
Please jon us on Sunday, November 11 and keep the flame of remembrance alive. We ask members of the public to be in their places by 10.45am prior to the arrival of the parade and the civic parties and wreath layers at the war memorial. Would those joining the parade please be in the car park opposite the park by 10.30am.
We also invite you to join the Legion at their own Remembrance Sunday service at St Marys Church, Greenhow at 6.30pm on Sunday, November 11 which is taken by ministers from the Church in the Dale. Light refreshments will be served after the service. Further details from Brian Hicks 01423 711936.
