St Robert’s Beer Festival: the third annual beer festival kicked off at 6pm on Friday, September 21, there were 17 different beers on offer with three different bars set up in the Chapter House. Entertainment was provided by Simon Belcher, a member of the St Robert’s Choir on the Friday night, with hot roast pork sandwiches being available for those with an appetite for something a bit more substantial than ale! A raffle was also held with great prizes including a Betty’s voucher, a meal at Storm restaurant in Harrogate and various wines. The Saturday afternoon had a more family orientated

feeling, luckily the sun was shining and most of the attendees were outside. There was ferret racing, ferret roulette (!) and even the infamous Teddy Zip Wire, brought back by popular demand. Music in the afternoon was provided by the marvellous Stray Notes. A great time was had by all at this ever popular fundraising event, and as soon as I know the total raised, I will pop it in the column.

Pannal Golf Club: now has a three and half minute video on its website, which includes some lovely views from the highest points of the course across the viaduct and down towards the village. To watch it, go to www.pannalgolfclub.co.uk/visitors and click on Club Video. The club is always open to visiting golfers and welcomes new member applicants, particularly juniors for whom there is a comprehensive series of coaching from beginners through to elite.

Pram Service: takes places at St Robert’s Church on October 8 at 2pm. This is a lovely informal service to take young preschool children along to.

Pannal Primary PTA Fizz Night: the PTA at Pannal School are holding their second annual shopping night on November 14 this year. Last year there was a cookery demonstration as well as 28 stalls selling a mixture of jewellery, scarves, handbags, pictures, chocolates, preserves and much, much more. If you are interested in having a stall at this year’s event, please contact me via my address at the top of the column. A small fee is payable for the stall, all proceeds will go to building a new outdoor shelter for the school.

News and events: please do get in touch if you have an event or something that you would like me to mention in the column. I sometimes don’t get to hear about things until after the event so even if you think I must know about something, please get in touch and tell me anyway, just in case! This will ensure you get a mention.
