Church Services: for Sunday 2 June St Robert’s Pannal 8am Holy Communion, 9.30am Parish Communion, 6pm Evensong.

Pannal WI: on Tuesday, May 14 at 7.30, the ladies of Pannal WI listened enthralled to A Knitter’s Yarn by Avril Jennison of Woolly One-offs. Avril had brought a variety of different textured and coloured yarns and described how straightforward it is to knit some very becoming scarves, displaying some
excellent examples of her  work. There will be no meeting in June, as the Pannal WI annual outing is taking place on June 11. Ladies and visitors are going on a coach trip to Burton Agnes and Bridlington, with - yes you’ve guessed it - a tasty WI afternoon tea on the way home. The next Pannal WI meeting will be on July 9 at Pannal Village Hall, when Simon Duffin will be telling Pannal WI ladies about Fancy a Cuppa - US style.  His fascinating talk will be as much about the people he met as it is about the tea and coffee he sampled in a variety of coffee shops and tea rooms across 27 states east of the Mississippi.    Visitors are welcome to attend, for a small fee of £3, including tea and biscuits - you never know, you might decide to join us in Pannal WI!

Pannal Silver Surfers: this newly formed computer skills group for older people in our community has got off to a good start with over 20 members already. They meet fortnightly on Wednesday mornings at the village hall and from June 12 they will be starting a separate novices group in the function room for absolute beginners. If you have a laptop or tablet computer then bring it with you so you can work on your own familiar computer. If not, don’t worry just bring yourself along for a taster session to see what it’s all about. There is a free Wi-Fi broadband connection in the Main Hall and a big screen display for tutorial presentations. The two hour sessions cost just £3 per person and you can work with friends or small groups at any level you wish. The meetings start at 10am with coffee and biscuits (included) and it’s a very relaxed and social atmosphere to have fun and meet new people. So if you would like to improve your computer skills or even start from scratch please give Pat Fitzgerald a ring on 523493 and he’ll put you on the members list. Numbers are limited so please don’t just turn up at the door. Thank you.

All Saints event: Beckwithshaw Saints Junior Football Club are hosting their annual end of season event on Saturday ,8 June and Sunday 9 June this year. The event takes place at Beckwithshaw Village Hall and on the field from 9.30am. There will be football tournaments and trophy presentations by age group as well as a bouncy castle on the Saturday. Lots of great refreshments will be on offer: hot and cold food, an ice cream van and a cake and sweet stall. In addition there will be a raffle and the chance to donate items to help charities. These are pre loved football kit and boots (for Romania Aid) and unwanted spectacles for the Lions recycle for sight programme.

News and events: please let me know if you would like to publicise your news or an event in Pannal and Burn Bridge. I need to know eight days in advance of publication so that I can include the details.
