A DESCENDANT of Jewish World War II refugees is holding a fundraising pamper day in her bid to raise £10,000 for a charity supporting women in war zones.
Jackie Terry-Schumann, 52, is joining nine other hikers on a trip to the Mount Everest base camp in aid of Women for Women International UK and to celebrate the centenary of International Women’s Day and the achievements of women over the last 100 years.
She has organised the Perfect Weekend Treat, an afternoon of pampering and indulgence, as one of many events aimed at securing the £10,000 that each member of the team has pledged to raise, in addition to the cost of the trek which they will pay themselves.
The pamper day is being held at the Ascot House Hotel, Kings Road, Harrogate on Saturday, August 13 from 2pm until 6pm. Jackie said: “The work that WFWI does is clearly incredibly important.
“But I feel particularly moved by its work with women affected by genocide as this resonates with me personally as I’m a descendant of Jewish refugees from Nazi Germany.”
