A celebrity peacock who has stalked the streets of Harrogate for several years is still going strong.
The beautiful bright blue bird, nicknamed Peter by Advertiser readers, first appeared in the ‘poets corner’ of Bilton in June 2010, sleeping atop houses and garages and preening in windows and wing mirrors.
His distinctive warbly ‘caw’ soon become a familiar sound and, despite his antics chasing buses and waking the neighbours at 4am, he has become a firm favourite with families in recent years. Experts, when approached by the Advertiser in 2010, initially said he would be lucky to last this long.
But reader Sylvia Houseman, of Bilton Lane, submitted this picture after a recent appearance from Peter.
“He always come to visit me here,” she said. Have you seen Peter recently? Send your pictures, and reports, to the address on Page 8.
